Narciso Rodriguez marked his label’s 20th anniversary by hosting a private showing at Barneys New York. He celebrated this milestone by reviving some of his most iconic silhouettes and unveiled a nine-piece archival collection of dresses exclusive to Barneys. After designing the fashion line for 20 years, Rodriguez still finds a way to breathe fresh life into each collection, making for a dramatically different experience every year. Working off a black and white palette, Rodriguez showcases his structured staples by using pops of red, fuchsia, and teal, layered over a fitted turtleneck, striking a very chic note.
Born and raised in Manhattan, Ulla Johnson honed her signature style in the streets of New York. Her label has become synonymous with custom prints, intricate embroideries, and fine tailoring but this season she wowed the audience by showcasing her inner hippie chick.
With an emphasis on the artisanal, her bohemian collection is defined by natural fibers, beautiful finishing details, and silhouettes that flow but also flatter. As her collection unfolded on the runway, the audience experienced Ulla’s purely luxe esthetic first-hand. The vibrant prints and intricate fabrics were beautifully accompanied with ruffles and frills, showing us that layering metallic, easy fit dresses with textured turtlenecks is the effortless-chic look for Fall 2018.
15 years ago, Nicole and Michael Colovos created a denim line called Habitual that was noticed by the CFDA. Fast forward to today, the duo has created their new namesake line Colovos. After a few seasons of showing their ultra-luxe urban minimalism collection by private appointment-only, the duo is now showing at NYFW.
Staying true to their cruelty free approach, they shun furs and leathers and instead use synthetic varieties and even sourced fabric from an Italian mill which uses plastic bottles recycled from the sea. This eco-friendly fashion line was amplified for the stage with orange quilted coats and impeccable tailoring with exposed seams.
