Lovin' Spoonfuls Fundraiser Tailgate Party

Lovin’ Spoonfuls is one of the most beloved nonprofits in the city facilitating the rescue and distribution of healthy, fresh food that would otherwise be discarded, working to deliver the food directly to the community organizations and resources where it can have the greatest impact. (They utilize a direct distribution system where their refrigerated trucks pick up fresh, healthy, perishables foods from donors and deliver it directly to meal centers the same day). Over the past seven years, they have rescued more than 7,569,798 pounds of food and deliver more than 40,000 pounds of food each week.

This year, Lovin’ Spoonfuls will honor Board Member Andy Youniss (who is also President and CEO of Rocket Software) with the Thomas M. Menino Award for Leadership, which honors a standout person who sees food as a powerful tool for social justice. (Past winners include Christopher Myers + Joanne Chang, Andrew Zimmern, and Jamie Bissonnette).
