Out With Alisa: Colin Cowie's Birthday

For his 50th birthday, Colin Cowie threw a 3-day celebration in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Guests flew in to Playa Del Carmen and stayed at the hotel that is known from Colin’s wedding series.

On Friday night we had a late dinner at the hotel, and Saturday morning everybody went to Tulum to take in some Mexican history. By the time we got back to the hotel, Colin had built a small-scale Mexican town on the beach, complete with local performers and dancers. We enjoyed a beautiful seated dinner, during which Colin gave a beautiful speech to thank everybody for coming. At the end of the speech, they popped 50 bottles of Dom Pérignon!

Colin’s plan was to keep everybody up the whole night, so he had different entertainers performing every 30 minutes, from dancers to fire eaters and singers. The entertainers included Natalie Cole, who performed a song for Colin, and DJ Donna D’Cruz, who spun a few songs. At 5am everybody went to the beach where DJs were performing, and everybody danced till sunrise. At 8am a Mexican breakfast was served for everybody at the beach and after breakfast it was time to leave!

Among the guests were Padma Lakshmi, designer Naeem Khan and his wife Ranjana Khan, Bob Pittman, Todd English, Jason Binn and Linda Fargo.
