Highland Park Named Hautest New Neighborhood of 2013

As the economy rebounds, first-time homebuyers and those looking to move up in the world of real estate have numerous options for neighborhoods, including Los Angeles’ Highland Park, which was recently named the hautest new neighborhood of 2013.
According to The Huffington Post, real estate brokerage firm Redfin identified the top ten hautest neighborhoods of 2013, and Los Angeles’ Highland Park took the coveted top spot. Spokeswoman Roxie Sarhangi told The Huffington Post, the list was created by “analyzing public records and verifying that the date was in line with what real estate agents were seeing on the ground.”
The report notes that all of the top-ten neighborhoods are seeing “shrinking selection, increasing sales and increasing prices.” They are all also opening new restaurants, have good school systems and “convenient commutes”.
Redfin CEO Glenn Kelman said in a statement, “They’re once-gritty urban areas and far-flung suburbs with school districts on the rise. This is the surest sign that the recovery is broadening, and that home-buyers are venturing out to once-marginal areas hit hard by the bubble burst.”
In addition to Los Angeles’ Highland Park taking the top spot, three other areas in Los Angeles made the list, including Faircrest Heights, Eagle Rock and Glassell Park.
The list includes:
- Highland Park, Los Angeles
- Mira Mesa, San Diego
- Faircrest Heights, Los Angeles
- Eagle Rock, Los Angeles
- Livermore, California
- Willow Glen, San Jose
- Glassell Park, Los Angeles
- Logan Square, Chicago
- The Mission, San Francisco
- North Maple Leaf, Seattle
