Out With Alisa: Jane Seymour’s Open Heart

Last night I was invited by actress Jane Seymour and her husband James Keach to join them as their guest at a reception for the Open Hearts Foundation, followed by the performance of Christmas Rose, Jane’s new show at Carnegie Hall.

The evening began with the Open Hearts Foundation reception, where famed philanthropist Leonard Lauder, the chairman of the Estee Lauder Companies, was honored with an Open Heart award. Over the years, Lauder’s Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation Alzheimer foundation has raised millions of dollars to fund research for the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Meanwhile, the Open Hearts Foundation, which was started by Jane and James in 2010, is a nonprofit charity  which promotes selflessness. The foundation funds health, arts, education and sports programs in communities across the world.

The reception honoring Mr. Lauder was beautiful, with food and drinks served to us at the Rohatyn Room in Carnegie Hall. Afterwards, we were lead to our seats and treated to a beautiful performance of Christmas Rose, where Jane sparkled. Following her performance, Jane gave beautiful speech about how her Open Hearts philosophy is a reflection of her mother’s advice; that only when you keep your heart open can you best give and receive love. Guests included Bonnie Evans, Janna Bullock, Pamela and Michael Morgan, Camilla Olson, Paula and Arnold Rosenshein,  Jane Schindler and Lady Liliana Cavendish.

To cap off the evening, guests were given one of Jane’s beautiful Open Hearts necklaces and a book of poetry from her foundation. Overall, it was very beautiful and special evening – a big thanks to Jane not only for the evening but for the good work she does all year round!
