Out With Alisa: Buccellati’s 60th Birthday

Last night Andrea and Maria Buccellati, along with their children Lucrezia (pictured above with her parents) and Gianmaria, celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Buccelatti family business.

The evening began at the Buccellati boutique on Madison Ave, where guests were served drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Following the cocktail hour, chauffeurs whisked us over to the Lowell Hotel, where a beautiful private dinner for about sixty people awaited the hotel’s private room. The long, dramatic tables were set with stunning Buccelatti silverware and silver plates, with a special Buccellati gift awaiting each person at their seat.

We happily toasted Andrea and La Familia Buccellatti, with numerous toasts given by guests. One of the highlights was a beautiful speech welcoming Lucrezia into the family business and celebrating her marriage last month to David Wildenstein, who was also in attendance. Guests included Christine and Steven Schwarzman, David Tisch, Nina García, Bob and Lauren Roberts, Nina Junot and Janna Bullock. Following the speeches, we were served a three-course dinner, finished off with a traditional Buccellatto desert: a ring shaped shortbread cake filled with dried figs, raisins, candied fruits, nuts and chocolate, with candied cherries and pistachio decorations. This Italian cake is traditionally eaten during the holiday season, often gifted by godparents to the family on the day of the child’s Christening. Tradition says the meal must be finished off by serving this cake, as it will bring good luck to the family.

On that very happy, positive note, we completed the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Buccellati family business. And so we parted, until the next happy occasion brings us together again!
