Award Ceremony in San Francisco Honors Students and Remembers Andrew Fluegelman

On May 18, the Annual Andrew Fluegelman Awards Gala Honoring Outstanding Students, Student-Athletes & Foster Parents will be held in San Francisco. The event is being held to honor students, but also to celebrate the pivitol role that Andrew Fluegelman played in the early development of PC and Mac computers.

Frustrated that there was no clear way to exchange files with other PC users or log on to early services like CompuServe, The Source or other computer bulletin boards, Fluegelman taught himself BASIC and wrote PC-TALK, the first communications program for PC. He also is known for coining the term “freeware” and for running a successful publishing company out of his bay-side home in California.
