Eight Major Hotel Projects Planned for Moscow

Increasingly attracting tourists from around the world, Moscow is quickly grabbing the attention of several international hotel chains that plan to put eight big projects there.
Some major hotel chains are eyeing Moscow and before the end of 2012 it is expected that some big name hotels will be opening their doors in the Russian city. Included in this group is a five-star Four Seasons Moscow, Kempinski Hotel Nikolskaya, Novotel in Moskva-City and two Hilton hotels. Once finished, it is estimated that these new hotels, and a few other four- and three-star properties, will add an addition 1,8884 new rooms to the city’s capacity.
According to city authorities, despite the increase in popularity amongst tourists, Moscow’s hotel rates remain below average compared to other European capitals. Similarly to London and Paris, the high demand and cost of living can tend to push hotel prices up and as Moscow becomes a popular destination for foreign tourists and business travelers, it’s likely the city will continue to raise room prices.
However, even if Moscow hotel rates do increase, it’s likely they will still remain reasonable compared to other metropolitan destinations. Room rates in three-star to luxury five-star hotels in Moscow were averaging $195.80 per night in November, while the average rate in Paris was approaching $303.13 per night, and Geneva and London were averaging $297.60 and $222.24 per night.
