Haute Spa: Get ‘Cocoon-ed’ at the Four Seasons Maui
It may sound like a scene in a sci-fi flick, but the Cocoon Treatments at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is a spa experience like no other.
Exclusive to the luxurious resort in south Maui, these treatments — there are three to choose from — use a warm cocoon-like bed. When you climb into it, you’ll sink into the pillowy softness, almost like you’re floating on a warm ocean.
The Wailea Water Ritual ($125 for 25 minutes) starts you in a secluded steam shower where you can exfoliate your body with a macadamia nut bath gel under a rain shower. Next, you move into a deluxe whirlpool with bath salts and aromatherapy oils. It’s a great way to start your morning or end a long day.
The Wai Aulia (for individuals, $155 for 50 minutes, $225 for 80 minutes; for couples, $290 for 50 minutes, $425 for 80 minutes) moves you into the warm cocoon bed, where you are gently rocked, massaged and stretched by an experienced therapist. It’s total relaxation at its finest.
The Wai Huakai (for individuals, $350 for 110 minutes; for couples, $575 for 110 minutes) begins with a relaxing soak in mineral-rich sea salts and botanical extracts. You move into the cocoon bed, where you are wrapped in a blend of ayurvedic oils with more than 75 therapeutic plant extracts. Next, a therapist will massage your neck, scalp, face and feet. After that, you wind down in the Serenity Room, where you are served a tonic, before a 50-minute full-body massage.
Now that’s a vacation!
