Nicknamed the “Rodin of the transparent” by Maurice Rostand, artist René Lalique created timeless, graceful art.
On July 2nd, the Musee Lalique is scheduled to open in France. Unique in Europe and deeply rooted in its history, this new museum which has been endorsed as a Musée de France, will display more 650 pieces in a modern exhibition space designed by Ducks Scéno and the Agence Wilmotte. The latter is also responsible for the landscaping of the site. Typically, the art of Lalique can be seen adorning the most luxurious homes, however the public will now have a chance to share in the magic and inspiration from the drawings, jewellery, perfume bottles, tableware, lights, vases and crystal, that make Lalique so spectacular.
René Lalique (1860-1945) was a jeweler of exceptional talent and an immense master glassmaker. Known as one of the great artists of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, for 90 years, Lalique creations have been produced at Wingen-sur-Moder in Alsace, France. It is in this region, with its great glassmaking tradition, that the Musée Lalique is to open, a place to celebrate the memory of the artist and his heirs, worthy of their genius and influence.

From 2 July to 30 September 2011: every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
From 1 October 2011 to 31 March 2012: Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The museum is open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. during school holidays
