Haute Event: NY Pops Celebrate 28th Birthday and the Life of Bob Hope With Black Tie Gala at Carnegie Hall and the Plaza Hotel

The New York Pops celebrated their 28th birthday on Monday, May 2 at New York’s famed Carnegie Hall with an elegant gala event called “Celebrate Hope.” The black-tie affair also celebrated the legacy of late actor and comedian Bob Hope, from his days in vaudeville, Broadway, radio, film, and television. The grand event kicked off with a concert featuring a special lineup, including Christine Ebersole, Maurice Hines, Michael Feinstein, Kelli O’Hara, Brooke Shields, Cartier Williams and special guest Angela Lansbury, under the direction of renowned music director Steven Reineke.

Also joining these esteemed names onstage were the young vocal talents of the singers of Camp Broadway and the West Point Glee Club. The show featured musical selection from Bob Hope’s illustrious career as well as works of his contemporaries who have been inspired by Hope’s career, talent, and legacy. Honorees for the evening were The Bob Hope Legacy, an organization founded by Bob Hope’s daughter, Linda Hope, to preserve her father’s memory, and the Interpublic Group in recognition of their continued support of the New York Pops.

After the incredible show at Carnegie Hall, guests made their way over to another NYC icon, the opulent Plaza Hotel, for a black-tie dinner and dance.
