Help Heather on Earth Music Foundation Win $250,000
If it’s stressful for an adult to be in a hospital, imagine a child. The Heather on Earth Music Foundation supports the implementation of music therapy programs in children’s hospitals. According to Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), “Music therapy is useful for addressing the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of children and adults with disabilities or illnesses.” The American Music Therapy Association describes it further: “Music therapy can help reduce pain; elevate patients’ moods and counteract depression; promote movement for physical rehabilitation; calm, sedate or even induce sleep; and counteract apprehension or fear.”
While Heather on Earth accepts private donations, this time you can help them win without spending a penny. How? By voting for them in the Chase Community Giving Facebook poll, which will reward the most popular charity with $250,000. At the time this article was written Heather on Earth ranked No. 5 with 1,041 votes. To move into the No. 1 spot, they need 2,042 votes. So if you have a Facebook account, make sure to spread the word to help this wonderful charity win the money they so richly deserve.
The Heather on Earth Music Foundation was founded by Geri Fessler to honor the memory of her daughter Heather, who passed away in 1985. “Keeping Heather’s memory alive on earth by bringing music into the hearts of children as they heal has created for me a great sense of inner peace,” Fessler said. “It truly has given great meaning to the essence of Heather’s destiny, as well as my own.”
