The latest beauty scoop on Kate Middleton\u2019s flawless visage hones on an throwback technique that, today, is somewhat disputed.<\/p>\n

The Duchess\u2019s makeup artist and one-time beauty editor, Arabella Preston revealed to The Cut<\/a> that the 35-year old royal maintains her glowing complexion with a simple tool \u2013 a face towel or what the British call a terry or a face washcloth.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is all about the flannel,\u201d Preston said to The Cut\u2019s editor Kathleen Hou. The fibers are crucial, said Preston, who co-founded the natural skincare line Votary, which offers cotton face cloths. The right towel should be firm enough to wipe away makeup and dirt and, at the same time, gentle enough to mildly exfoliate.<\/p>\n

Not everyone, however, bows to the purported cleaning prowess of flannels. If not washed regularly and used properly, towels can spread acne-causing bacteria as well as spur irritation. But if they work for Middleton, why not give them a try?<\/p>\n
