Emma Stone
Emma Stone shone in gold. Her ornate, fringed dress echoed yesteryear glamor, which her red lips and sensuous wavy locks only bolstered.
Janelle Monae
Janelle Monae lit up the red carpet. Her Elie Saab gown sparkled with a myriad of stones and ornaments of various shapes and hues. Fixed with a golden headband, her hair, cropped in a tussled pixie, gave the ensemble a cheeky finish.
Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman took a risk – and it looked stunning. With her long, straight Armani Prive dress, hair, pulled in a loose do, and flawless complexion all in the same shade, she could have easily been washed out into one large beige splotch. Her flaring red lips, however, added the color that underlined Kidman’s sartorial boldness.

Scarlett Johansson was super feminine and cheekily rebellious at the same time. Her Roman-style, flowing Alaia frock evoked settled womanhood, while her pixie hair and ear-rimming jewels gave out an unruly streak.

Political Statements on the Red Carpet
Some chose the glaring publicity of the red carpet to send out a political message. A pale blue ribbon in support of the American Civil Liberties Union, on organization that protects the rights of all Americans regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation and religion, adorned the gowns of several actresses. Among them were Karlie Kloss and Ruth Negga.
