And for all the women out there who are practicing self- love, and want to be and look their best then there are specific steps to take to optimize your beauty. Obviously the right make-up, and appropriate clothing that is both fashionable and fabulous is important, but it starts with the foundation and that means your skin and your look needs to be flawless – the eyes speak volumes and there is a timeless saying that the eyes are the windows to the soul so for all the women out there who want to truly look and feel their best then there is a more everlasting solution. Indeed, how you look effects how you feel and vice-versa. And when your eyes appear lifted and you look rested, it makes a difference. How can you be your best and optimize and improve your appearance? One way is BOTOX and Fillers, but another may be a browlift or an eye lift, depending on what is most suitable for you and your lifestyle. However, it is imperative to have your plastic surgery procedure(s) done correctly and under the proper circumstances, so that the results are positive and successful.
Several articles in the plastic surgery literature conclude that a multitude of brow lifts produce eyebrows with a shape and position that are not aesthetically pleasing. To test this theory, we compared eyebrow shape and position in both young and mature women to provide objective data to plan forehead rejuvenating procedures.
Two groups of women ages 20-30 and 50-60 were photographed to determine eyebrow position. Measurements were made from a horizontal plane between the medial canthi (inner corners of the eye) to three points at the upper eyebrow margin. Typical results for patients from each cohort are shown. Younger patients have a medial brow which is low, with the apex (highest point) of the brow positioned lateral. Older patients have an elevated medial and middle brow which contributes to a flattened or apex neutral appearance. Measurements to the top of the brow margin are shown for each point measured.
Unlike other areas of the body where there is descent of soft tissues, there is paradoxical elevation of eyebrows with aging in a certain proportion of patients. The change in brow shape with ag in many patients can be explained. Many patient’s upper lids drop with age (referred to as senile ptosis). Patients raise their medial and middle brow with their forehead muscle (frontalis muscle) to clear their field of vision. Since there is no frontalis muscle more laterally, the lateral brow descends due to gravity.
These findings explain why surgical elevation of the mid and medial brow typical of many browlifts, provides results that are neither youthful nor aesthetically pleasing. For that reason, many patients are displeased with the shape and position of their brows after certain browlift procedures, causing them to seek surgical reversal of their browlift. A patient who had her browlift procedure reversed is shown below.
The dysaesthetic results of conventional browlift procedures have been recognized. Hence, elevation of the lateral brow only and treatment of glabellar frown and forehead wrinkles with BOTOX is advocated by many plastic surgeons to rejuvenate the upper face.
More and more millennials are having BOTOX and other fillers as preventative measures to maintain a youthful appearance. For any age when an upper eyelid lift or browlift is considered it should be determined with the right amount of analysis and thought. It is important to not rush into any decisions, and realize the pros and cons to any procedure.
