In recognition of his “standard of integrity, competitive excellence and tireless promotion” of the game, Miami Heat President and Haute 100 Miami lister Pat Riley has been honored with the 2012 NBA Coaches Association Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award.
Riley –whose career in the NBA surpasses the four-decade mark, conforms the fifth person to receive the recognition. “This is not an award,” said Riley. “This is something somebody bestows on you. I’m very honored that the coaches association would do this.”
Three-time MVP and fellow Haute 100 lister LeBron James also talked about Riley’s recognition and how his guidance has set forth the Miami Heat’s reign. “For us as a team, he means a lot,” said James. “He put together this team, and we just look at his resume, his experience either as a player, as a coach or as an executive, he’s done some great things. Any insight that he gives you, he’s giving it because of experience. He knows all about it. He’s won at the highest level multiple times.”
With Game 5 potentially closing out the series and making the Miami HEAT 2012 NBA Champions, we can only hope that Riley’s celebrated wisdom secures the team’s win tonight.
