- Bio Her colorful works of art, signed “C.McSilver,” generate profits that go straight to charity. She and husband Martin established the McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research at New York University as well as the Silver School of social work. The couple, together for over 50 years, donated $50 million to the school in 2007, a gift that made the record books as the largest private gift to a school of social work in the U.S.
