- Bio Since joining the San Francisco Ballet in 1985, Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer Tomasson has evolved America’s oldest ballet company into one of the world’s most innovative dance ensembles. The Iceland native and former ballet dancer has choreographed over 40 ballets for the company and is on the Board of Directors of the School of American Ballet and the Artistic Committee for the New York Choreographic Institute.
