Take A Look At These 11 New Winter 2018/2019 Restaurant Openings

With a new season, come a plethora of new restaurant openings. From a high level lounge in the sky in Brooklyn to an old-Bombay themed restaurant – these eateries are sure to delight each and every guest that walks through the door. Take a look at some of the most exciting and anticipated NYC restaurants debuting this season.

GupShup

New to the Gramercy restaurant scene is GupShup, a bi-level Indian restaurant inspired by old Bombay. Celebrating a combination of old-Bombay meets new-India, GupShup will feature a menu from noted executive chef Gurpreet Singh (Punjab Grill), who moved to New York City from India specifically for this concept. Signature dishes include Pumpkin with roasted tellycherry peppers; Tomato Rasam Ramen with golden and wild ear mushrooms; Nizam’s Haleem Khow Suey; Tandoori Lobster Tail served in Moiley sauce; Puchkas with smoked salmon and curd rice mousse; and Lamb with pink rose bread and apple cider jam.

Nittis

Nittis is a brand new Italian restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen that is bringing back beloved family recipes with an old school red sauce aesthetic and features modern ingredients and stylized presentations. Melding fashion and food, Nittis offers an energetic environment reimagining the noir of the1950’s and New York in the 1980s.

Nittis is owned by a father and sons team. The father, Will Durollari, comes from a family of culinary professionals whose father was a restaurateur and operated restaurants throughout New York City and currently owns Pomodoro in New Jersey. The sons, Arben and Kuj Durollari, are the masterminds behind the fashion brand BOND with clients including The Weeknd, Anwar Hadid and Migos, and bring their artistic aesthetic to the concept, design and the kitchen.

Benno

From acclaimed chef Jonathan Benno, Per Se and Lincoln Ristorante, comes his third restaurant in The Evelyn Hotel, Benno. The fine dining restaurant will feature a menu that will focus on the area where Italy and France meet at Liguria and Provence, as well as highlight additional regions along the Mediterranean coast. Chef Benno’s other new concepts in The Evelyn include Leonelli Taberna, a casual Roman-inspired trattoria with an accompanying cocktail bar and lounge (opened June 25); and Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria, a bakery and café inspired by the great bakeries of Rome and New York’s rich history of Italian-American pastry shops (opened July 11).

Sushi by Bou

For the first time ever, a hotel room is being used as a restaurant. Behind an unmarked hotel room door in Hotel 3232, Sushi by Bou is opening its third location on December 5th. This is the latest concept by Michael Sinensky and Erika London of Simple Venue and Chef David Bouhadana. Upon arriving at the hotel, guests “check-in” at the reception desk where a hostess hands over a key card and directs them to the 10th floor.

Guests use the key card to gain access to an unmarked door – Suite 1001. Behind the door is a sexy speakeasy complete with a four-seat sushi bar where guests enjoy a 60-minute omakase valued at $100 per person. Over the course of the next hour, guests enjoy approximately 17 pieces of sushi. Hand-crafted cocktails and premium sakes are also available. The room leads to a 25-seat terrace which is equipped with a bar and lounge chairs which is available year round.

INTERSECT BY LEXUS – NYC

Located in the heart of the Meatpacking District, the three-story Manhattan space boasts a restaurant, café, cocktail bar, lounge, and public and private gallery space, all designed by the acclaimed interior designer Masamichi Katayama of Wonderwall. The dynamic lifestyle hub is designed to bring people and ideas together for an immersive cultural experience.

The restaurant at INTERSECT features world-class cuisine through its rotating Global Chefs-in-Residence program, debuting its first collaboration with chef Gregory Marchand of Frenchie in Paris, London. Executive chef Nickolas Martinez will run the kitchen year-round in conjunction with the chosen chef-in-residence. The cocktail bar and lounge draws inspiration from seasonal ingredients to create an original selection of drinks.

Farm to Burger

Farm to Burger, a new restaurant featuring a variety of burgers including vegetarian, fish, grass-fed beef and chicken has just opened at the Aliz Hotel Times Square. The restaurant is owned and operated by the team behind New York City’s most romantic bars, Dear Irving and The Raines Law Room. Farm to Burger’s décor suggests a chic country farmhouse transplanted to the heart of New York City.

The restaurant sources its all-natural beef from Fossil Farms, whose cows are pasture-raised and finished by feeding on source-verified vegetarian grain. The farm is noted for its “Never Ever Program,” which bans the use of antibiotics, hormones and steroids. Farm to Burger’s vegetarian option is courtesy of Impossible Foods, producer of the renowned Impossible Burger. All buns are from Bien Cuit, which is dedicated to supporting regenerative agriculture.

Pomona

Recently opened by chef Michael Vignola Pomona has just found its home across from The Plaza. The menu features a variety of dishes that are inspired by New York ingredients and culinary traditions, such as the Hudson Valley Foie Gras Slider with Sour Apple Butter; King Crab Pomona, Green Apple, Citrus Mustard; Seawater-Brined Chicken with New York State Oats, Lemon, Escarole; and a Prime 40 Day-aged 12oz NY Strip.

R17 is the new rooftop cocktail lounge and restaurant opening atop Pier 17 in the Seaport District designed by Rockwell Group, the world renowned design firm whose portfolio includes living spaces and restaurants such as Nobu Hospitality spaces, W Hotels Worldwide, EDITION properties, and Moxy. Embodying a sultry den, R17 allows you to indulge in luxury with finely crafted cocktails and inventive Modern American small plates including a Hamachi Crudo, Beet Salad, and Australian Wagyu Ribeye. The culinary team is led by executive chef Cassidy Hallman, former executive chef of Morimoto Restaurant, and beverages created by veteran mixologist Mark Murphy, who designs every beverage program for all Pier 17 seasonal and permanent entities.

Brigitte Bistro Moderne

Brigitte Bistro Moderne, an elegant yet casual French restaurant has just opened its doors in the Lower East Side. Brigitte Bistro Moderne is run by a Michelin-star team — chef Kamran Naseem (formerly of Junoon, The Four Seasons and Aureole) and managing director/partner Chris Lauber (formerly of Jean-Georges, Aldea and Aureole). It is the brainchild of owner and co-founder Anthony Coppers, the visionary behind Gradient, a leading experiential marketing firm.

The Water Tower at The Williamsburg Hotel

The Water Tower, located high in the sky above the Williamsburg Hotel rooftop, boasts unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows encased in steel. With cozy sofas throughout the intimate space, the unique space transitions from a sophisticated lounge to a contemporary nightclub in the later hours, featuring nightly live entertainment from a rotating list of DJs from around the world.

Guests are also able to enjoy luxurious bites created by executive chef Nic Caicedo, like the Seafood Plateau (chef’s selection of fresh local and wild seafood with seasonal accompaniments), White Truffle Grilled Cheese (fontina, comte, smoked gouda, and white alba truffles, on Brooklyn Bread Lab brioche), and Caviar Tastings (Siberian sturgeon, classic osetra, and golden osetra served with traditional accoutrements).

Ardyn

On January 11, chefs Ryan Lory and Adam Bordonaro (both formerly of Charlie Palmer Group and Fig & Olive) and general manager/director of operations John Noonan (formerly of Empellon Group Midtown) will open the doors to their debut restaurant, Ardyn, in Greenwich Village. Ardyn, which refers to a sacred forest. This foray will be an approachable, seasonally-driven New American restaurant that offers three different experiences: a bar and cocktail lounge, a la carte dining, and a chef’s tasting menu all within its sleek yet relaxed dining room.

Helmed by co-chefs Lory and Bordonaro, Ardyn’s dining room menu will feature an assortment of shareable small plates, large-format dishes, seasonal sides, and desserts. Each dish at Ardyn will feature ingredients largely sourced from the local farmer’s markets and artisanal producers available in New York City and its surrounding areas, executed with the level of care and attention to detail that Lory and Bordonaro have become known for. Guests who are interested in partaking in a specially-curated Ardyn experience may opt for the chef’s tasting menu, which will be available both in the dining room and at the coveted seven-seat chef’s counter in the weeks following opening. The six-course menu, which also includes an amuse bouche and petit fours, will be priced at $85 per person and is designed to showcase the best of the season as well as the chefs’ range in skill and technique.
