Fans of “Riverdale” were shocked and perplexed at the end of the hit CW series’ second season. Was its star, golden boy Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) a killer? Is Dark Betty (Lili Reinhart) gone for good? We may not have all the answers, but Rob Raco, who plays Joaquin DeSantos on the buzz-worthy teen drama, can answer some of your burning questions. We sat down with the Canadian actor, who can also be seen in the upcoming horror film “Hammer of the Gods,” who shared what’s going on behind the scenes and on-screen.

So, enquiring minds want to know: Do you think that Archie a killer?

I don’t think Archie is a killer, but I do think Archie will kill if needed. His loyalty to family and friends is stronger than any relationship in the town of Riverdale.

What can fans expect from Season 3 of “Riverdale”?

Shock. This season, so far has been dark and direct with less cliff hangers.

Tell us more about Joaquin. What kind of guy is he? Where do you think the series will take him?

Joaquin is a kid from the other side of the tracks with a heart as big as the whole town. This season shows a darker, more survival version of Joaquin. In prison, we see him as the Serpents Leader.

What’s the vibe like on set?

Being on the set of “Riverdale” is like being at a family members house. On one side, you’ll have the scene filming and everyone in their zone, creating their art and on the other side, you have the people on break from filming, playing guitar or playing sports and then there I am…eating crafty.

Who are your favorite cast members to hang out with and why?

Everyone is a gem but KJ and I have hit it off musically and it’s been great to decompress from longer days on set to go jam Van Halen or Stevie Ray Vaughan songs all night.

Can you give a behind-the-scenes anecdote from filming the series?

After a long day of shooting running scenes in the sun, we finally got to lunch. This was a hot day and our prison uniforms are sweats suits. KJ and I go to the crafty and see a giant cheese platter. We devour it. After lunch, we think we’re moving on to a dialogue scene but lo and behold, we needed to turnaround on coverage for the run. Still sunny and still boiling, we do a run scene with 10 pounds of cheese in our stomachs. We both quickly turned gray and hoped for the best. Luckily, we made it through to the next but I regret nothing, it was delicious.

What is something fans might be surprised to learn about you?

As lucky and fortunate as I am for my acting career, I will say that being a musician (drummer) is my passion. I’ve been working on new projects on days off from filming and hoping to explore that more in the new year.
