Last night on August 7, the Crazy Rich Asians cast, including Awkwafina, Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Ken Jeong, celebrated the highly-anticipated premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CaliforniaThe star-studded cast arrived in a fleet of incredible sports cars and then hit the red carpet before heading into the theater.

Writer Kevin Kwan, donning an appropriate bedazzled blazer, delivered heartfelt remarks about the film that will hit theaters on August 15. Following the premiere, the entire cast headed to Dream Hollywood for a private after party where they danced to music from DJ KoFlow who flew in straight from Singapore to create a truly authentic experience. After a quick outfit change Awkwafina arrived at the after-party ready to celebrate what she called a “dream come true.”

Guests enjoyed specialty Johnnie Walker Black Label cocktails like the “Pandan-Monium” made with the Pandan leaf, a popular ingredient in Singapore and across South East Asia” by Singapore mixologist Peter Chua. Kevin Kwan and Awkwafina were the life of the after party. Guests flocked to their neighboring tables, indulging in speciality cocktails and ample photo opportunities. The close-knit cast were amongst the very last to leave the event.

The film adaptation of writer Kevin Kwan’s 2013 novel is clearly creating quite the buzz across the country. Johnnie Walker was proud to raise a glass to this momentous moment of progress in the film industry since it is the first major Hollywood film featuring an all-Asian cast (Jon M. Chu is also a Chinese American Director of the film) since Joy Luck Club was released in 2013. The film brings topics of diversity, inclusion and equal representation to the forefront of cultural conversation and should be celebrated for helping to usher in a new era in film.
