Paella Sundays at Boulud Sud

Can’t make it to Spain this summer? Don’t worry because Daniel Boulud’s Boulud Sud Paella Sundays will transport you across the globe instantaneously. The Upper West Side Mediterranean restaurant is celebrating Sunday all summer long by serving family-style tapas, paella “Valenciana,” churros and a complimentary glass of sangria every Sunday from 5 P.M. for $49 per person.
“I really find it to be a voyage to Barcelona on a Sunday night in Manhattan,” explains Executive chef Travis Swikard. “It is a great way to share a communal meal with friends and family at an amazing price point. Small plates or tapas and shared to start and comprise of an array of seasonal offerings from marinated and raw small fish to patatas bravas, marinated olives, gambas al ajillo or octopus ala plancha.”
So how exactly is Boulud Sud’s Paella prepared? Swikard tells us: “Red pepper soffrito is made from stewed peppers, onions and garlic and is added sliced local calamari and spicy diced chorizo and toasted with Bomba rice. We then add a shellfish broth that is made from lobster and shrimp shells, tomato, garlic, white wine and saffron. We cook all of this in a traditional paella pan and simmer it in the pizza oven. When the paella is almost finished cooking we push mussels down into the steaming hot rice, sear off some head on prawns and top it off with garlic aioli (a catalan specialty).”
Sunday Bubbles at Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge

From the creators of Sunset Saturdays at PHD Downtown, Matthew Assante & Dustin Terry have launched their newest party Sunday Bubbles at Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge at The Moxy Times Square.
Perched 18 floors above the city, guests can indulge in Sundays filled with bubble guns, bubble necklaces, rockin’ cover bands, and shareable bites and oversized cocktails from the venue’s carnival-style menu.
Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge features five carnival-themed distinct environments and is the largest indoor/outdoor all-season hotel rooftop in NYC. There are two separate outdoor areas: The east side, overlooking the Empire State Building, has elegant garden-party fixtures, while the west is more overtly carnival-esque, offering a rotating carousel for seating. Tucked into a corner is the hotel’s hotspot: Foreplay, a miniature putt-putt course designed by TAO Group, that, instead of windmills, has follies of colossal-size animals in flirty poses.

Sunset Sundays at Gallow Green

The McKittrick Hotel (home of Sleep No More) presents Sunset Sundays at Gallow Green, a weekly live music series at the hotel’s whimsical secret garden rooftop. To wind down the weekend, different jazz and world music artists are featured live every Sunday evening between about 7-10pm. Featured artists include: JaJa Bashengezi, Gato Loco, Adriano Santos, Mino Cinélu, Sandcatchers, Chloé Perrier, Hot Club of Bushwick and Eli Fola.
There is no cover for general admission, and Gallow Green’s full bar and dinner menu are available to enjoy with the performance. Gallow Green’s seasonal menu highlights include: Frozé, spiked with rosé, vodka and Campari, as well as the signature Sleep No More cocktail, made with pea flower-infused vodka, elderflower and rosé cider.
Fresh crudité, salads, and oven-baked pizzas, topped with choices like meatball, cauliflower, or vegetable plus summery soft shell crabs, lobster rolls, grilled steak skewers and fried cheese curds are all offered to snack on during the show.
Riviera Sunday’s at LAVO

Each Sunday, head to LAVO for a high energy dinner party and enjoy a meal while various entertainment performs – think dinner theatre but way more fun. Hosted by nightlife veteran Rocco Ancarola, LAVO’s Sunday night bash is the best way to officially start the week. Starting a 9pm with dinner, the food is all cleared away by 11pm when the party truly begins. There’s always a DJ but depending on the night, the party could feature tap dancers, ballerinas, burlesque dancers and more.
On-Deck Delight at Hudson’s

Join Hudson’s on Sunday’s for their Bottomless Mimosas on their new Observation Deck. If you get hungry, upgrade to their buffet brunch or order a la carte some of their famous bites and platters from the “On Deck Delights” menu. The 2-hour Sunday Cruise departs at 12:30pm and takes you to spectacular views of the Statue of Liberty at no extra cost. Upon your return to the Pier you can choose to stay on and enjoy the bottomless deal. No reservations are need, simply come aboard as early at 11:30am to get your Sunday party started.
