The intimate South End space comes alive each night with live jazz, soul, blues, reggae and soul music. City Winery

The restaurant/winery/entertainment venue offers a varied menu that includes everything from flatbreads and charcuterie boards to hummus plates for sharing. The Regattabar

Tucked inside the third floor of The Charles Hotel in Harvard Square, The Regattabar has been a city staple for hosting some of the best live jazz acts since it opened here more than 30 years ago. There are just 225 seats here to ensure an intimate setting with a great view from every table. From local rising musicians to marquee jazz artists, this is the place to go to get your groove on. We recommend pairing up a classic cocktail (a Hemingway daiquiri or sidecar perhaps?) with a New England cheese plate to share or some light fare like a smoked turkey with boursin sandwich.

Laugh Boston

The cool Seaport District got a whole lot hotter when Laugh Boston opened inside the Westin Hotel a few years ago. Acts range from stand up to improvisational comedy featuring local and national talent. Head to this sibling of the North End’s sketch favorite (Improv Asylum) Wednesday through Saturday if you need a good laugh. Try a sunset bowl tequila bowl for sharing with up to three of your closest friends to kick off this party right. The atmosphere here is casual and so is the fare (think snacks, salads and paninis).

Scullers Jazz Club

Scullers Jazz Club has been a landmark since it opened in 1989 welcoming some of the biggest names in Latin and contemporary jazz along with blues, R&B and soul.
