Top Five Spots For Father’s Day Dining

Still not sure where to take your dad out this weekend to celebrate his special day? Don’t worry, we have got you covered.  From a steakhouse serving cigars to an afternoon cruise along Boston Harbor, here is a look at five of the best spots that he will surely love more than any tie this Father’s Day.

What dad wouldn’t like to be treated to a decadent steak dinner on Father’s Day? This new Downtown Crossing location is the second venture from Brian Piccini and Chris Coombs of Boston Urban Hospitality Group (the original is located in the South End). He will love indulging in the massive cuts of beef like the 20-ounce Chateaubriand and 18-ounce prime bone-in ribeye. Make it even more special with a sampling of their signature oxtail croquettes, pork belly mac and cheese or a poutine-style twice baked loaded potato.

Grill 23 & Bar

Grill 23 has been a standout as one of the city’s best steakhouses for more than 30 years – and for good reason. It’s all about the decadent pieces of meat served at this Back Bay favorite like the Grade A5 Wagyu striploin, the 100-day aged prime ribeye or the American Kobe cap steak. Other cuts include twin filets and a massive 24-ounce prime porterhouse for his hearty appetite. Finish it off by checking out their tableside humidor service, which includes optional cigar preparation for smoking the same evening. (All restaurants in Boston are nonsmoking so cigars must be enjoyed outside the restaurant).

Odyssey Cruises

One of the best ways to celebrate your dad is to spend some valuable time with him making memories and the Odyssey Cruises allows you to do just that. On Sunday, they are hosting a lunch, brunch and dinner cruise that leaves from either Rowe’s Wharf or the World Trade Center (be sure to check the website for details). Each two or three-hour cruise will take you both around Boston Harbor where you will enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet while taking in some live entertainment and one of the best views of the city.

Beat Brasserie

One way to show your father just how much you appreciate him is at the annual Grateful Dad’s bluegrass brunch held at Beat Brasserie. Even if your dad isn’t a Deadhead, he will have fun enjoying live music alongside some tasty dishes like eggs shakshuka with chorizo, steak frites, quiche with house salad or roast pork chilaquiles. Musician Ryan Jordan and his band will take over Beat’s stage playing cover songs from The Grateful Dead along with some jazz, western swing, roots country, bluegrass, rock and pop for a fun and lively afternoon.

For the ultimate indulgence with your father this holiday, Menton is one place that will always deliver. Make a reservation at the Chef’s Table for a multi-course tasting menu from James Beard award winner and Relais & Châteaux Grand Chef Barbara Lynch‘s restaurant located in the Fort Point. Pop some bubbly or order up a dry martini and prepare to be wowed here. An a la carte menu is also available offering everything from yellowfin tuna, seared foie gras and rose veal carpaccio to prime strip loin, East Coast halibut and roasted lamb loin for a dinner he won’t soon forget.
