Patrick Evan and his team of stylists including color guru Pam Genio-Bates are on the top of my list. His namesake salon has been holding court on Grant Street for the past 17 years.

The salon takes up three floors of the building and each floor is distinct. It started as one floor, but as Evan built a loyal following, he needed more space and expanded—growing the salon to take up two other floors. Today, Patrick Evan is home to over 30 top stylists, many of whom have specialized focuses like extensions, straightening, or keratin. Evan himself is an expert in the process of thermal reconditioning, a straightening technique that leaves hair smooth, soft, and damage-free. Evan has performed three treatments per day, four days a week, consistently since he opened his salon—that’s how in demand he is.

Several things make Patrick Evan Salon unique. First, it offers every service imaginable including lashes and nails. Second, it’s a welcoming and warm space. There’s no snobby pretentious receptionist. Instead, guests are greeted like they are old friends—even if it’s their first time at the salon. Finally, the team’s education is incredibly important.
As Evan’s right-hand woman, Genio-Bates is in charge of making sure that the stylists stay on top of their game. Learning new cutting and coloring methods is crucial for the salon to continue to grow and thrive.
