If you are a Miami native, recent export, or even a tourist, surely you’ve heard of or have visited (even more than once) its famed Wynwood Walls, where some of the world’s most prominent artists create one-of-a-kind, oversized murals and artworks, making for very Instagrammable photographic moments. Goldman Properties—the mind behind the genius addition to what is now one of Miami’s most popular neighborhoods—is bringing that genius thinking to New York, in transforming its well-known Houston Bowery Wall in a similar fashion, with international street artist Tristan Eaton.

The wall has historically become known for serving as a canvas for various artists to display thought-provoking messages, ideas and even movements, and has been repainted several times. The first artist to do so was Keith Haring in the 1980s, with his 70-foot mural, and artists that followed include Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos, Swoon, Aiko, Ron English, Lakwena and Banksy. Eaton will take his creativity to it next, with a piece called INTERMISSION.

“With the support of Goldman Properties, artists have been using the real estate of the Houston Bowery Wall to reflect, protest, and make statements,” began Eaton. “I’m beyond humbled to continue this legacy with my latest contribution. In exploring ways to shed light on the tragic current events in the United States, I desperately need a break, or an intermission – to put the world on pause and see the bigger picture. I’ve decided to paint that Intermission at billboard scale in the hopes that we can all catch a much-needed breather together, then spring into action to make change.”

CEO of Goldman Properties, Jessica Goldman-Srebnick, is equally excited for Eaton to bring his artistic touch to the lower Manhattan neighborhood. “I’ve worked with Tristan Eaton for several years on a number of projects, including the Wynwood Walls and Hard Rock Stadium, and I find myself constantly impressed by the cultural significance of his work, as well as the complexity, depth of content and the way in which he uses imagery to depict his powerful messages. His work is deeply relevant, masterfully executed and beautifully inspiring.”
