Five Best Places To Celebrate National Lobster Day

Tomorrow is National Lobster Day, so to celebrate, we have trapped five of the best places to get your sweet crustacean fill. Whether you prefer it in a creamy overstuffed roll or loaded with warm butter, here’s a look at the top spots in Boston you won’t want to miss.

Legal Harborside

There are three floors to choose where to sit, relax, take in an oceanfront view and prepare to dig into some uber fresh lobster at this Legal Sea Foods standout spot. Try it simply steamed with a squirt of fresh lemon, indulge in a creamy casserole loaded with fresh lobster meat and sherry cream or go all out with the full lobster bake (dig in – no one’s watching) complete with chowder, steamers, mussels, chorizo and corn on the cob. There is no better way to kick off the summer in style.

Neptune Oyster

While you might not expect to find a great lobster spot in the North End, locals know one of the best places to go for one of Boston’s best is Neptune Oyster. Whether you prefer it served warm and buttery or chilled with just the right amount of mayo, Neptune Oyster always delivers a fresh sampling. Sweet and savory, this enormous roll is served on a toasted brioche roll served with a side of golden fries. Be sure to arrive on the earlier side of lunchtime as the lines here can often be long – for good reason.

Row 34

It’s all about the warm buttered or Ethel’s creamy lobster roll at Row 34. This Fort Point haute spot is one of our favorite go-to places for a midday afternoon craving served with a side of salty chips and crunchy slaw. Pair it up with their noteworthy selection of fresh bivalves and cool it down with a nice chilled draft micro brew for a perfect afternoon. This year-round restaurant is one spot you won’t want to savor just on National Lobster Day.

B&G Oysters

Barbara Lynch’s South End oyster bar is equally known for its impressive lobster roll (and lobster BLT). This Maine delicacy is done best at this contemporary neighborhood restaurant where seafood lovers flock for these overstuffed rolls made fresh daily with tail and claw. It’s served on a buttery roll in a creamy blend of chopped celery, lemon juice and salt and pepper. The bread and butter homemade pickles are the perfect accompaniment along with the side of crisp fries.

Eventide Fenway

When word got out that Portland, Maine’s famous seafood spot famed for its popular lobster roll was coming to Boston, we all couldn’t wait to get a bite. The brown butter lobster is sweet and the rolls are steamed, so this classic cult-following favorite tastes somewhat nontraditional, but equally as delicious. Located just steps from Fenway Park, this is also a great spot to stop in for a haute pre-Red Sox game day bite.
