Domaine Chandon was established by our French friends Moët Hennessy, but the winery is as Californian as they come. In fact, Chandon was the first sparkling wine producer in America, and this year is making a splash in celebration of its 45th anniversary.

The leading wine house ushered in summer last month with the debut of its 7th-annual limited-edition American Summer bottles. Skinned in red, white, and blue labels printed with festive beach umbrellas and chic sun hats, the bottles—which include a soft, dry Chandon California American Summer Brut and a crisp, fruity Chandon California American Summer Rosé—are the perfect accessories for that big holiday in July. Think of them as one-trick tablescape styling for every summer party.

To ensure plenty of photo opportunities for its photogenic new bottles, Domaine Chandon invited guests to its Napa Valley estate recently for an “American Summer Fete,” complete with Insta-worthy photo backdrops, lawn games, live music, and picnic lunches from Bouchon Bakery.

To commemorate its 45th birthday, Chandon is releasing a limited-run of special anniversary bottling of its beloved Blanc de Noirs throughout the remainder of the year. Denoted by a special seal, the rich, round, and fruity Blanc de Noirs (or “White from Black”) is made entirely from red grapes—both Pinot Noir and Meunier—and was first crafted in 1974, just a year after the winery opened its doors. This special edition is also the first release under new head winemaker Pauline Lhote—another milestone that will surely keep us quenched for years to come.
