On Wednesday night Tiffany & Co. celebrated the Paper Flowers collection with a party at its boutique in San Francisco. The new line is chief artistic officer Reed Krakoff’s first jewelry collection for the brand. Tiffany & Co. commemorated the launch with a massive party in New York City last week and is now hosting events at its major stores nationwide. The jewelry was inspired by paper flowers created from hand-cut paper petals that are delicately pinned together. It’s high-end beautiful jewelry and each flower’s center consists of a platinum pin.
“Paper Flowers is about stripping away all of the rules associated with fine jewelry,” Krakoff said in a statement. “Luxury shouldn’t always mean formality, so we used precious stones and the finest materials, but in a way that you can live with every day.” Yellow diamonds (inspired by the vivid hue of fireflies), and blue tanzanites (inspired by the deep color of spring’s iris) are featured throughout the line.
Although it’s fine jewelry, it’s not meant to be saved for a special occasion. It’s luxe everyday pieces—pendants, bracelets, earrings, and rings. It’s a collection that will change and evolve like the seasons. New types of flowers or insects in varying colors and stones will be added over time. The brand hopes to create an entire world of wearable beauty. Insects are nestled in between flower petals as they would be in real life. It’s jewelry that is feminine, graphic, and fantastical all at the same time.
At last night’s soiree, San Francisco shoppers were treated to Champagne and an assortment of snacks—foie gras and blueberry toasts, avocado crostini, pea tartlets—that are menu items at Tiffany’s new cafe in the New York flagship. Guests mingled, tried on the jewelry, and watched the exclusive video that was created in honor of Paper Flowers. Inspired by the classic film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, it stars Elle Fanning. The event supported the San Francisco Ballet, and members of the corps were in attendance. Other local luminaries included Mary Beth Shimmon, O.J. and Gary Shansby, and Deborah and Kenneth Novak.
