While the temperature in New York has been fluctuating, the one thing that has remained constant is the excitement to welcome summer. With Memorial Day Weekend occurring next week, we put together a list of destinations that are far enough to make you feel like you’re on vacation but close enough to still be convenient.

Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa: 3 Hour Drive

Kick off the weekend Saturday morning with RUMBLE Boxing lead by instructor Jeremiah Maestre.= or book a hair appointment at the new OUAISPACE. Gurney’s Beach Club got a complete facelift as the yellow and white striped decor has now been replaced with an upgraded, more sophisticated look. Different DJs will be playing throughout the weekend, so there will always be something going on down by the beach.

A quick getaway from NYC, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is the perfect destination for Memorial Day Weekend. Borgata Beer Garden & Outdoor Pool provides guests with sun, fun, and over 400 chaise lounges, daybeds and cabanas, and a variety of lawn games and activities. Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina is offering similar wellness experiences as their Montauk property. OUAISPACE and Higher Dose appointments will be available during the holiday weekend and all summer long. Make sure to take part in a Mile High Run Club & Pilates class in collaboration with Newport Lululemon. Live entertainment will also be offered throughout the entire weekend at both The Pineapple Club and The Regent Lounge.


Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island: 4 Hour Drive

This summer is officially getting “Wylder” as Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island on the Chesapeake Bay opens as the newest lifestyle resort in the area and the first property from the new hospitality group Wylder Hotels. Built in the 1800s, Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island was originally a boarding house that turned into the historic Harrison’s Chesapeake House where many politicians escaped for fishing expeditions. Now the completely renovated Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island will make a splash on the east coast with 54 newly-designed guest rooms that channel a relaxed seaside cottage vibe infused with modern comforts. Also on deck, is a new saltwater swimming pool, and two restaurants, Bar Mumbo and Tickler’s Crab Shack envisioned by Chef Sean Wheaton, a seven-year alum of José Andrés’ Think Food Group.


Asbury Park: 1 Hour Drive

Asbury Park makes for a great weekend getaway for Tri-State locals and visitors who want to escape NYC’s hustle and bustle. Gurney’s Montauk Yacht Club & Resort is debuting all new restaurants and menus this Memorial Day Weekend including poolside bites at The Pool Club and gourmet pizzas at Forno. Aligned with the other property’s fitness activities, guests are invited to take part in beachfront yoga, standup paddle boarding, and classes with Tonehouse instructors. DJ Nicole Leone & Coco Robert will also be providing live entertainment at The Pool Club throughout the weekend.


Ruschmeyer’s: 3 Hour Drive

Brooklyn and Hampton hotspots are teaming up to present Ruschmeyer’s Brunch hosted by Freehold. From Saturday, May 26 – Monday, May 28, these likeminded establishments will begin brunch at Ruschmeyer’s in Montauk at 11 am. Brunch will emulate the same experience as Freehold in Williamsburg, but with Ruschmeyer’s boho-chic summer campground as the backdrop. 

Memorial Day is also the kick off for what will be a summer-long program held every weekend. There will also be a wellness component, with Drunk Yoga starting a class at 10 am on Sunday, May 27. The classes will rotate from various NYC studios each weekend.
