The weather is finally taking a turn for the better and it’s just in time for spring’s inaugural holiday: Cinco de Mayo. With the festive holiday falling on a Saturday, New York City‘s restaurant is taking full advantage with an array of both food and beverage specials. Check out the list below for some of the best places to celebrate this year!
Añejo
Añejo, the agave spirit bar and Mexican eatery in both Tribeca and Hell’s Kitchen will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo all day on Saturday, May 5th. Starting at 11:30 am, Anejo will be serving up margaritas, cocktails, and Mexican distillations to be accompanied with Executive Chef Ricardo Camacho’s Mexican fare.
Later in the day, Amanda Swanson, Añejo Tribeca’s resident tequila sommelier, will be on site mixing up signature margaritas in addition to a variety of spring-worthy cocktails such as the Oaxacan Caipirinha with Paranubes rum, simple syrup, fresh lime juice, club soda and raspberries, and the Viva la Raza with Peloton, basil infused simple syrup, fresh lime juice, cucumber, fresh mind and club soda.
Toro Loco

Toro Loco is a brand New Mexican eatery that will officially open on Thursday, May 3 on Stone Street in the Financial District. On Saturday May 5, they will launch their first Mezcal Party Brunch right in time for Cinco de Mayo festivities! The weekly series will boast themed servers, burlesque-style dancers and music from an in-house DJ and include two hours of unlimited share plates and up to five signature brunch cocktails per person.
Bodega Negra
Meatpacking hotspot Bodega Negra will be sure to fulfill you Cinco de Mayo cravings. Food specials include Green Guacamole Molcajete with Flautas and Cucumbers, The Queso Fundido, Mexican Street Corn Nachos, and Cinco De Mayo Don Huevo while cocktail specials include the Dona Frida and the Michelada.
Tijuana Picnic
Cinco de Mayo is a ten day celebration at Tijuana Picnic on the Lower East Side. Starting Thursday April 26th, all margaritas will be $14. Highlights from head bartender Jim Kearns include Sea of Cortez with lime juice, cassis, Grand Marnier, and blanco tequila; and Boca de Vaquero with Lime Juice, Sugar Cane Syrup, Del Maguey Crema de Mezcal, Jalapeño Infused Tequila, and Bottle Modelo Especial.
Arlo Roof Top
In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Arlo Roof Top (at Arlo Soho) will be hosting an all-day fiesta from 12PM to 6PM and in the evening from 7PM till closing on its newly revamped rooftop slated to officially launch mid-May. Open to the public, get a sneak peek of the new rooftop space and gather with friends over sweeping views of the Hudson River.
Arlo Roof Top will be offering specials throughout the day including Chips and Guacamole, Tacos (pork or steak), Mexican Corn, Mango’s with Chili and Agave and more. For the ultimate festive cocktail, sip on sangria, micheladas or margaritas – available on the rocks or frozen in flavors such as strawberry, mango or lime. And if you’re feeling creative and want to take your drinks in your own hands, build your own cocktail at Don Julio‘s pop-up Margarita Bar which will feature a variety of different add-ons to mix and match.
Refinery Rooftop

Refinery Rooftop is hitting the trifecta on May 5. Not only will the property be celebrating Cinco de Mayo, they will also be celebrating the Kentucky Derby and their 5th anniversary. One ticket will grant you access to the three different experiences happening on site, which includes a 4 hour premium open bar featuring Specialty Cocktails, Maker’s Mark Mint Juleps, GH Mumm Champagne, a Rosé bar, live music and DJ, a photo booth, passed hors d’oeuvres, oyster bars, friendly wagering, and a secret margarita speakeasy hidden within the hotel that will be accessible only to those in the know. The best dressed guest will also win a trip to next year’s Derby so make sure you dress to impress.
Borrachito

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Borrachito, the newly opened hidden taqueria located in back of The Garret East cocktail bar is joining forces with The Garret East to launch an East Village Saturday Brunch party. On May 5th, the weekly Sabado Sabado Brunch Party at The Garret East will debut Borrachito’s Paleta Cerveza Floats (homemade Ice Pops served in a glass of Tecate), tasty Mexican brunch classics by Chef Yuval Ochoa, and live DJ tunes to kick summer off right.The Garret East X Borrachito Sabado Sabado Brunch Party will be every Saturday from 12-6pm with a live DJ. This is the only day of the week Borrachito opens before 5pm.
