Afrojack Dishes On Hitting #1 This Week On The Billboard Dance Chart And Why He Can’t Wait One More Day

We finally only have to just wait one more day.

It has been a big week already for Afrojack (aka Nick van de Wall), the Grammy award winning artist, producer and DJ, who topped the Billboard Dance Chart earlier this week with the smash single “Lost” with VASSY featuring Oliver Rosa. Tomorrow, he will be releasing his highly anticipated single “One More Day.”

From electronic music to hip hop and pop, the Dutch DJ/producer delivers heart pumping beats to high energy crowds with his entertaining live performances. Throughout the years, the electronic expert has collaborated with everyone from Beyonce and Chris Brown to Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj.

Afrojack will also be kicking off a North American One More Day tour on May 11 stopping at The Grand in Boston‘s Seaport District on May 14.

We caught up earlier today with Afrojack to discuss his exciting week, upcoming tour and return to Las Vegas for a 2018 residency.

You were at the Wynn Las Vegas for a couple of years back in 2011 and have returned for a 2018 residency. How does it feel to be back?

It feels great to be back. Las Vegas has always been like home to me. To be back where it all started is always good to come home.

Have you ever thought about opening your own nightclub?

Maybe one day. I like enjoying the fun side of it though without the hassles of ownership.

Why do you think you have become such a worldwide dance music phenomenon?

I don’t know that I would call myself that, but I like to make music and I think it was a case of being in the right place at the right time.

How would you say your music has evolved over the years?

People ask me that question all the time. I do what my gut tells me. I’m a music producer, so I like to produce what I like to produce. I think about what I want to make and try to keep it fresh. It’s just like food. You’re not going to eat chicken every day. Maybe you want to add in some fish and vegetables. That’s the same way it works in the studio. I think about what I’d like to cook up that day in the studio.

Tell us a little about your new single, “One More Day” being released tomorrow.

“One More Day” is a really fun song. It has a very uplifting chord progression.

Where would you say has been one of your most favorite performances?

Ultra. Those festivals take top place because they are always so much fun.

How did it feel to win a Grammy (shared with David Guetta) for your 2011 remix of Madonna’s “Revolver?”

It’s funny but when I won it, I wasn’t aware of what a Grammy was then I found out I was the second Dutch person to win a Grammy. I am really appreciative of the in, but I don’t make music to win awards.

You’re coming to Boston and New England this month. What can fans expect at the show?

Old school fans know what to expect. For people who haven’t seen the show, I like to present my music in an experience you can only see in live shows.
