Woodstock, A Pioneering Cocktail Bar Concept, Debuts In The Meatpacking District

Woodstock Cocktails

Staying true to its name, The Woodstock cocktail and pizza lounge is embracing a 1960s’ feel with their new establishment opening Wednesday April 4, 2018.

After seeing an undeniable gap in the market for high-quality drinks at an accessible price point, James Morrissey, owner of Black Rose Hospitality (The VNYL and The Late Late), and David Sitt (Thor Equities), developed The Woodstock. The 1960s-inspired bar opening in the heart of the Meatpacking District later this week, is located just a few steps away from the 14th St. Highline entrance.

“We see the impact Woodstock had on the world, such positivity was transmitted by giving people a platform to express their feelings…no matter what those feelings were. I see this space in the same light,” says Morrissey.

The Woodstock

The Woodstock features funky lighting fixtures, a faux fireplace, a bright fuchsia custom-felted pool table, and an impressive rotating set of 24 authentic Salvador Dali pieces among other photographs conveying stories of earlier times.

The inventive beverage program created by Beverage Director D’Arel Miller (formerly Soho House Group) will focus on seasonally rotating classic cocktails using both premium liquors and quality ingredients, all priced at $10. Those looking to take things up a notch can choose from a varied selection of cocktails for $15 and $20.

Taking inspiration from the tail end of the 60’s, when calls for political change were running rampant in America, I wanted the cocktails to reflect inclusivity and equality, two principal ideas we at The Woodstock take pride in celebrating. We want guests to feel comfortable to ‘come as they are’ in a neighborhood that so regularly boasts the contrary. With eye-popping colors, fun ingredients and an unbeatable price point, I really feel that we have something special here and can’t wait to share the good vibes,” says Miller.
