Since Virgil Abloh stepped onto the scene with his now, world-famous brand, Off-White, it seems that everything he touches turns to gold. With a huge, celebrity fan base—including names like Bella Hadid, Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper, Kylie Jenner, Beyoncé, Carmelo Anthony, Future, Drake, Chris BrownCardi B, Hailey BaldwinRussell Westbrook and Kanye West, among several others—Abloh is now expanding his growing empire, as he was just named Men’s Artistic Director for one of the most powerful fashion houses in the world: Louis Vuitton.

“Having followed with great interest Virgil’s ascent since he worked with me at Fendi in in 2006, I am thrilled to see how his innate creativity and disruptive approach have made him so relevant, not just in the world of fashion but in popular culture today,” said Michael Burke, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, via the brand’s Instagram page.

Though Abloh has several, noteworthy collaborations under his belt already through his brand Off-White—such as Kith, Nike, Vans, TimberlandUmbro and Levi’s—this partnership with LV will certainly be one of the biggest and most monumental in his career to date.

“It is an honor for me to accept the position of Men’s Artistic Director for Louis Vuitton,” began Abloh, also via the Louis Vuitton Instagram page. “I find the heritage and creative integrity of the House are key inspirations and will look to reference them both while drawing parallels to modern times.”

The partnership is also one that makes sense, given that LV (and other major fashion houses) are moving more into the streetwear realm. Per the Off-White website, it is a “fashion label rooted in current culture at a taste-level particular to now.”

Abloh’s first collection for LV will debut at Men’s Fashion Week in Paris in June of this year. We can’t wait to see what he has in store!
