Chef Masa Opens Basement Beneath Tetsu In The Heart Of Tribeca

Three-star Michelin chef Masa just opened Basement, a new restaurant beneath Tetsu, featuring a kaiseki menu showcasing intricately prepared protein-focused cuisine in the heart of Tribeca.

Basement serves as chef Masa’s experimental playground where the menu will continuously rotate and feature dishes such as whole squab, A5 Wagyu beef, Ohmi beef roast and whole fish displayed on beds of ice. The varying menu will change nightly according to availability and seasonality with steamed, fried, grilled, and roasted dishes that demonstrate his creativity and innovation.

In additional to beers, wines, and spirits of international provenance, inventive cocktails such as the vodka pear and beet tegroni made with blanco tequila, Campari, and charred beet are also featured.

The multi-course kaiseki meal is available at $350 per person excluding tax, tip, and beverages. Basement will be open for dinner on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday’s for the the time being, with service six days a week to follow. Reservations by phone are required.
