If you’re going to take health and fitness advice, you’d want it be from a true expert, no? And as the worldwide UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley is exactly that. At UFC 206, Woodley captured said championship title with a first-round knockout win over Robbie Lawler, but he also boasts wins over MMA household names like Carlos Condit and Josh Koscheck. He’s also the owner of ATT Evolution and Fitness in Brentwood, Missouri, and serves as an MMA analyst on Fox Sports 1. An actor and stuntman on the side, Woodley has appeared in television and film, including Olympus Has Fallen, The Player, and the Oscar-nominated Straight Outta Compton.

We had the pleasure of catching up with Woodley at Whole Foods in Playa Vista, where he was showcasing the products of holistic health company Onnit—whose products are forging new frontiers in the nootropics, supplement and fitness industries, both because of their star-studded fanbase as well as the rigorous testing standards that Onnit upholds—alongside the brand’s CEO, Aubrey Marcus.

Here, the uber-healthy Woodley shares five ways to get fit and healthy this year, and we are SO taking his advice.

1. Water Loading – You should be drinking at least 1 gallon of water a day. The more you sweat, the easier this will be to achieve.
2. Try to limit carbs in your final meal of the day – Carbs are an energy source, so you don’t need these to sleep! Stick to veggies and lean protein for dinner.
3. Start a regular, but realistic, workout regimen – 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week is a great start.
4. Monitor sugar intake and consumption of fried foods – These are your worst enemies!
5. Rest and recover – This is maybe the most important part. Make sure you are getting enough sleep so that your body can recover and be fully ready for the next day.
