Steve Aoki is being honored with his own wax figure at the legendary Madame Tussauds. It’s a much deserved honor but definitely long overdue.
“This whole process has been super exciting so far, Madame Tussauds and I are both fun, outlandish, and all about delivering an unforgettable experience,” said Aoki.
Why Aoki? To understand the latter, you have to understand the artist. He brings much more to the EDM world than his incredible ear for music. Aoki is a showman.
You’d be surprised to find out that Aoki started his career in the DIY punk rock music scene as a teenager. What led him to the EDM world were the free parties he would host in collaboration with a friend of his in the early 2000s. These parties became so popular in Los Angeles that it drew out people like Kanye West, Paris Hilton, and even Lady Gaga. The soundtrack of the parties were a clash between punk and dance music, a movement that has since been popularized across the board. Aoki’s larger than life personality and genius did that. He is everything that doesn’t fit into the quintessential EDM artist box and others have noticed. Even artists outside of the EDM and English-speaking entertainment world have embraced him like Daddy Yankee.
It’s his magnetic abundance of energy, hard work, undeniable talent, and his punk rock influences like crowd surfing, champagne spraying, and cake smashing elements at his shows that have turned him into one of the most iconic and in-demand EDM artists in the world.
Now, the two-time GRAMMY-nominated international DJ and producer has been eternalized as a wax figure and will be admired by onlookers forever at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas starting on Tuesday, March 6.
“I can’t wait to see fans get behind the decks and have some fun with my first ever wax figure,” said Aoki.
