Lululemon’s New Collection Celebrates Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year officially started last Friday and the festivities that commemorate the year of the dog are in full swing. While one expects to find the celebration in bars, restaurants, and the streets, you might be surprised to see the Chinese New Year honored at your local boutique fitness studio. Beloved athleisure brand Lululemon has launched a special limited-edition clothing collection of Chinese New Year-inspired workout gear.

The design consists of traditional elements associated with the Chinese New Year. The color red symbolizes good fortune and joy, while flowers represent Chinese culture and art. Each flower and branch was hand-drawn in various shades of red. Lululemon’s team layered the illustrations to create a pattern that has a sense of movement. The artwork was digitalized and refined resulting in a print that looks as if it were photographed.

The digitally-printed line includes an assortment of products like an all-sport bra, high-rise workout tights, and shorts. The new campaign expresses Lululemon’s commitment to growth in the Asian market and features twin sisters and Hong Kong-based yoga instructors, Faris and Agnes Chan. Lululemon now has a total of 15 stores and four showrooms in China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Malaysia.

The Chinese New Year print can be found online and in select Lululemon stores across the globe.
