Neil Patrick Harris took a ride into the future with Lyft and Aptiv’s self-driving cars at CES.

Neil Patrick Harris stepped into the future and joined Lyft for a ride. The ridesharing app is in partnership with the self-driving technology company Aptiv to offer rides during CES.

In a ride in the Lyft and Aptiv self-driving vehicles, you’ll notice the way these vehicles sense their environment and the remarkable ways they navigate independently.

Harris began his autonomous excursion at the Las Vegas Convention Center on a 30-minute ride around the Las Vegas Strip.

In the half-hour ride, the self-driving vehicle adapts to every slow and fast car that passes; changes lanes; reacts to traffic lights, and pedestrians.

Both Lyft and Aptiv ensured Neil’s ride was equipped with a “safety driver,” to stay behind the wheel at all times. An “in-car host” also joined the ride to help explain the car’s functions.

Today, Jan. 12, CES attendees are welcomed by Lyft and Aptiv to take one of these vehicles for a ride too. The self-driving cars will be picking up passengers from the Gold Lot at the Las Vegas Convention Center. All rides will be conducted by Aptiv’s fleet of eight BMW 5 Series sedans equipped with its automated driving technology.
