This All-Day Café Is Bringing California To SoHo

SoHo is full of everything from art galleries to high end shopping, but can feel a bit sparse when it comes to food that holds flavor over Instagram likability. Luckily, newcomer west~bourne is offering both with an all day café of light eats that bring restauranteur Camilla Marcus’ vision of veggie-heavy west coast vibes to every dish.

Open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, west~bourne highlights the seasonal harvest in an homage to the golden state with uniquely appetizing twists on dishes like buckwheat waffles, organic blackberry INNA jam, and Echo tacos—topped with onion, petter, and potato hash. The restaurant will also feature homemade pies from legendary Four & Twenty Blackbirds in Brooklyn, with a signature pie inspired by Marcus’ hometown.

While Marcus is an L.A. favorite, she’s no stranger to New York and the restaurant scene here. Her resume’s packed with bold faced names like Union Square Café, Riverpark, and Dell’anima. In addition to Marcus’ management, Amy Yi serves as Culinary Director from the restaurant, and will be looking to her background at Upland and Jean-Georges.

The space has something else going for it besides the food and a chic, contemporary look—a sense of purpose. To immerse west~bourne as part of the community, Marcus is hiring the restarants staff through The Door, an organization supporting local job training. Part of the restaurant’s proceeds will also be donated to The Door’s benefactor, The Robin Hood Foundation. With a menu that adds a perfectly light touch to the SoHo dining scene, an airy, California inspired setting to help get New Yorkers through these grey, January days, and a sense of giving back fueling the business, it’s clear that west~bourne may be new to the area, but is here to stay.
