FaceWest was founded by sisters and beauty junkies Pavla and Petra Langer. A couple of years ago, both were at a cross roads and decided to ditch their day jobs and pursue a passion project. “We created FaceWest to meet the demand of those seeking a beautiful and convenient destination to get their makeup done for everyday or special occasions,” Petra told Haute Living. “We’ve cultivated the most experienced team of experts, and makeup and skincare products curated from around the world to provide a personal, relaxing, and fun beauty experience.” Pavla chimes in saying “our team specializes in the art of makeup rather than sales so we can bring an elevated and fresh take on makeup and beauty to the Bay Area. We’re excited to be a part of the Marina community, adding some glitz and glam while building on our family heritage of small business ownership.”
FaceWest’s studio is a gorgeous salon with six clean makeup stations. The decor is black and white, but there is nothing stark or cold about the space. It’s inviting and the sisters greet each client with a warm smile and glass of complimentary wine. An accent wall covered in white florals against a black backdrop is the ideal place to snap before and after photos. No detail has been forgotten—the Langer sisters ensure that all customers will have a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
The signature application ($55) starts with a gentle cleanse similar to a facial. Next comes a fully customizable makeup application. You can select from FaceWest’s lookbook or work with the artist to create a look that is perfect for your occasion. The service includes eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, foundation, concealer, power, blush, bronzer, brows, and lip color. All of the makeup used by the artists—including brands Beauty Is Life, Blinc, and La Bella Donna—is available for purchase, so if you love that lip color, you can take it home with you. Other services offered at FaceWest? A makeup application with airbrush foundation, brow waxing, themed and costume makeup, makeup lessons, lash extensions, and bridal looks.
The cool thing about FaceWest is there is no pressure or intimidation to purchase products. The Langer sisters are welcoming and focused on makeup that enhances a women’s natural beauty rather than concealing it. An importance is placed on quality, skincare, ease, and education—the artists walk you through the entire procedure and are happy to provide tips for recreating the look at home.
