Yesterday, Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate and Gardens hosted its first ever Harvest Celebration. For the past 20 years, the family winery has thrown an heirloom tomato festival in the fall, but this year, the team decided to switch things up. Guests were invited to taste farm-fresh produce, participate in painting classes, and learn about everything from bee hives to cheese production to barrel making at a series of dynamic seminars. Of course, plenty of food and wine was also enjoyed at the lively outdoor soirée.

Another look at the handbags

Last week the elegant philanthropist, Bahya Oumlil-Murad, luxury realtor, Joel Goodrich, and real-estate developer, Mark Calvano, threw a party in honor of their friends Mustapha Benosman and Alice Benosman. The Benosmans are founders of MyKilimShop, a new handbag company that designs pretty leather goods in France using handmade kilim rugs that are found in Morocco. Think of the purses as recycled rugs, but at their chicest! The setting was as gorgeous as the handbags—Matt Lituchy the COO of Jay Paul Company opened up the presentation suite of 181 Fremont for the event and guests were able to take in the stunning views of the glittering Bay.

On Thursday, September 28, Roots of Peace hosted the 20th Mines to Vines Anniversary Gala in the Green Room at the War Memorial Opera House. The humanitarian non-profit began in 1997 with the vision of converting minefields into beautiful agricultural lands. Since then, Roots of Peace has raised funds and awareness to remove millions of landmines and planted over five million fresh fruit trees in Afghanistan, Angola, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cambodia, Croatia, Iraq, Israel, Palestine, and Vietnam. Over one million farmers and families have been impacted by this business model for peace.

The Nob Hill Gazette turns 40 this year and to commemorate their birthday, the monthly journal hosted a glamorous soirée at the Julia Morgan Ballroom last night. A wide variety of San Franciscans, from socialites to notable photographers, got in on the fun. The JCB sparkling rose flowed and guests nibbled on Rueben sandwiches, lamb lollipops, and beet blinis with caviar. Beach Blanket Babylon, youth members of the San Francisco Symphony and Opera, and students from the school at the San Francisco Ballet performed at the event.
