With statistics as scary as one in eight women developing breast cancer (the second leading cause of cancer death in women), everyone knows October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Boston area restaurants and retailers have now come together to offer their support.

This month, Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant is joining the fight against breast cancer by offering guests the Ta Ta Tasty, a specialty vodka-based cocktail  made with basil, lime, grapefruit, bitters, and elderflower with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Ellie Fund, which offers support for breast cancer patients. (Sister restaurants Capo and Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar are also running BCA cocktail specials supporting the Ellie Fund).

Upper Crust Pizzeria just started using pink pizza boxes at all of their greater Boston locations throughout the month of October to raise awareness for the cause, a move that is set to become an annual tradition. They have partnered with the environmentally friendly GreenBox, which was spotlighted on ABC’s Shark Tank, to create a recyclable, multi-functional pizza box, which breaks down into four sturdy plates & a compact storage container for leftovers.

Argyle Pink Diamonds has created a beautiful limited-edition pendant necklace as part of an international campaign by Select Atelier jewelers to help raise money for the  Susan G. Komen Foundation and other local breast cancer charities. Boston’s Barmakian Jewelers is one of the exclusive retailers for the pendant.  The limited edition Breast Cancer Awareness Pendant features 0.08ct Argyle 6P/PP Pink Diamonds with 18K gold.  For each $1,600 necklace sold, $300 will be donated to a breast cancer charity.

Also for the month of October, pink corks will be hidden in bottles of Mionetto Prosecco available at local retailers like Kappy’s where you can now shop real-time wine from their seven locations across Massachusetts. If you are one of the lucky customers to find a pink cork (the contest is available nationwide), you will win a pink five-speed hand mixer and be entered into a Grand Prize Drawing to win $10,000 charitable donation by Mionetto USA, made to the breast cancer charity of the winner’s choice.

We also love Chamilia‘s “Brave & Strong” charm designed to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative. The sterling silver charm has a lightly oxidized finish features the word “Brave” on one side and “Strong” on the reverse; both sides are accented with four Rose Swarovski Crystals.

This month, we can’t get enough of Vera Wang’s Truly Pink perfume. Fragrance.com is donating 15 percent of the proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation from the sale of this beautiful scented white freesia united with apricot and litchi. The heart is composed of peony, pink rose and lily of the valley, and the base notes are iris and creamy woodsy notes.Vera Wang's Truly PinkPhoto Credit: Fragrance.com
