With the long holiday weekend in front of us and New England foliage at its peak, it’s time to think of a quick getaway. The ever-popular and continuously expanding Stowe Mountain Lodge offers a true escape from it all, just a few short hours from Boston. The northeast’s rival to any Aspen or Vail resort is located at base of the tallest peak in Vermont. The year-round lodge offers accommodations for shorter stays with guest rooms featuring marble bathrooms, flat-screen TVs while suites come complete with living rooms and terraces/balconies and condos include kitchens and fireplaces.

The enormous lobby is filled with comfortable couches and rocking chairs where you can relax in front of the wood-burning fireplace. We recently stayed in the lodge’s south wing complete with hotel guest rooms, studios and suites. Off the lobby, there is another corridor that heads to private two, three, four, and five-bedroom residences and that’s just the start of exploring the property.
The ever expanding property now features a private residence club with 19 penthouse-style properties ranging from two to five bedrooms (ranging in price from $1.1 to $4 million) that have access to underground valet parking, luxe club amenities, including a lounge, concierge and locker room accessibility, all available with Stowe Mountain Club membership. (You can even purchase your own private homesite and take advantage of all of the amenities of the Spruce Peak at Stowe community).
There are three membership tiers here with various initiation fees, including a Gold ($15,000), Platinum ($60,000) and Legacy ($150,000) that include everything from golf course access, reservations and parking privileges to a real estate credit on the purchase of new Spruce Peak at Stowe real estate priced at over $1 million.
Solstice is the lodge’s on-site restaurant that offers a true farm-to-table experience complete with cheese and charcuterie boards, grilled bone-in pork chops, pan seared scallops and brick pressed chicken. Don’t miss the weekend all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet where you can indulge in fresh warm vanilla glazed cinnamon buns, fresh fruit, Irish steel cut oatmeal, made-to-order omelets, and their own specialty mountainside granola.
The ZipTour is an absolute must adventure here with the country’s fastest zip line where you can reach speeds up to 80 miles per hour. There are three segments; the first is the longest; the second the shortest and the final the steepest. They provide a quick lesson and practice session to familiarize you with the harness and braking system before you take the Summit Gondola to the top of Mount Mansfield, the state’s highest peak.
