This weekend, why not get out of the city and enjoy some Sonoma wine? The Sonoma County Vintners and Jackson Family Wines’s Barbara R. Banke are hosting the region’s largest charitable event, the Sonoma County Wine Auction. The two-day event starts on Friday, September 15 with an auction lot preview party at Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate and Gardens. There are also exclusive vintner-hosted dinners at various locations on Friday night. Saturday, September 16 is the main event with the auction at La Crema Estate at Saralee’s Vineyard. The reception and lot preview are from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and the live auction follows at 2:15 p.m. Some of the items being auctioned off? A weekend at the Kentucky Derby with Jackson Family Wines, a trip to London that includes meeting the cast of Hamilton, and VIP access to the Telluride Film Festival.

In San Francisco, the 3rd annual SF Cheese Fest is taking place on Saturday, September 16 from 6 to 9 p.m at Social Hall SF. All proceeds for the event benefit the California Artisan Cheese Guild. The fest’s theme is “Melting Together,” so cheese lovers can expect plenty of delicious gooey cheese dishes. 24 of the guild’s members will be serving their artisanal cheese and local favorites Magnolia Brewing Co., Lagunitas Brewing, and Fort Point Beer will be pouring icy cold brews. Cider lovers will enjoy sips from AppleGarden Farm, Golden State Cider and Titled Shed Cider, and wines from more than a dozen wineries, including Herb Lamb Vineyards and Belden Barns, will ensure lively pairing discoveries.

Good news for those hoping to visit the upcoming Museum of Ice Cream: more tickets are going on sale! Presale tickets are available exclusively for American Express Platinum Card members starting today and for all American Express Card members on Thursday, September 14 at 9 a.m. Tickets are open to the public for purchase on Friday, September 15 at 9 a.m. The interactive Museum of Ice Cream opens on September 17 in the old Giorgio Armani space downtown.

Last week, hostess with the mostess Farah Makras opened her beautiful home to friends and supporters of Eleni Kounalakis. Kounalakis is running for Lieutenant Governor and the event was to raise money for her campaign. Party goers enjoyed champagne in a variety of cool glasses—Makras has a large collection of sparkling wine flutes—and bites inspired by Kounalakis’s Greek heritage. Notables included Mayor Willie L. Brown, Mayor Art Agnos, Riccardo Benavides, and Lisa Zabelle.

Congratulations to Maria Joukovskaya! On Friday night she became Miss Russian San Francisco 2017. “Huge thanks to the organizer of the contest—Karina Zakharov for the opportunity to shine, feel glamorous and beautiful—and to meet so many new people, some of them became friends!” Joukovskaya said of her win. Akhmaral Duisenbekkyzy was the 1st runner up and Diana Golyadkina 2nd runner-up of Miss Russian San Francisco 2017 competition.
