New York Fashion Week Day 8: Top Shows Of NYFW

Wrapping up New York Fashion Week, Haute Living’s Fashion Editor went behind-the-scenes to bring you the news and trends from the remaining shows in New York.

Unlike the darker and more moody collection of last spring, for Spring 2018 Michael Kors decides to use a much softer, pastel-colored palette that is refreshing and light. He uses this softer color scheme of light blues and lilac and blends them with fun and youthful prints such as tie-dye and palm trees, interwoven into flowing day-trousers. As the collection made its way down the runway the colors gradually shifted to deeper colors of navy and grays, making way for Kors’s signature use of neutral hues. Despite the seemingly dramatic change in color themes, the collection still felt cohesive with the fluid layering and softened black and white with big, leafy prints. Michael Kors’s spring collection is all about making chic fun pieces that work not only for vacations but also for the hustle and bustle of city life.

Designing for Delpozo, Joseph Font’s Spring 2018 line he brought flamboyance, dramatic color and gorgeous concept as the brand is known for. Font let his imagination run wild with paisley prints’s, embellished jackets, structured coat-dresses, and specifically an ever-so-chic pastel rainbow-colored tulle gown. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Delpozo is known for making jaw dropping statement pieces that are not for everyday wear, and this collection definitely demands a special occasion as an excuse to make an entrance.

Closing out New York Fashion Week was the Marc Jacobs show. Over the past 25 years of making clothes and continuing to push the envelope, Jacobs exceeds to amaze us. His show was in complete silence for all to focus specifically on the primary colors, over-sized silhouettes, and lots of embellished sequins. To finish off each look was silk turbans by Stephen Jones. Jacobs idea here was a return and a nod to his archives. In true Jacobs form, this entire collection of 56 looks was extravagant and sophisticated.
