New York Fashion Week Day 7: Top Shows Of NYFW

Capri, Italy circa 1960’s serves as the inspiration behind Mark Badgley and James Mischka’s Spring 2018 collection. Bright tones, including sunshine yellow, coral red, and electric oranges make for a breath of fresh island air in this season’s sophisticated designs. Badgley Mischka refined their collection of daywear pieces by softening the look but also upping the poshness factor, by pairing an airy striped skirt with front slits with a floral-embellished cotton t-shirt, which is a different approach to the ever-so-classic Badgley Mischa style. “Sun, sea, and sand” are the three words the designers used to sum up their spring collection and we would agree – any woman making her way to Capri this Spring can look refined and fresh from beach to the ballroom.

Coach has truly been treating us to stand-out collections ever since Stuart Vevers took the helm as Executive Creative Director in 2013, and the Spring 2018 collection certainly does not break this tradition. Vevers looks beyond the more classic look of the Coach-brand accessories and instead incorporates more glamour. Walking into the showroom design was like stepping into a glitz-metallic oasis and the collection pieces matched this theme. Staple pieces from prior seasons like leather skirts and varsity jackets were given the razzle-dazzle treatment from sequins and satin to metallic embroideries and matching hardware. With ambassadors like Selena Gomez you know this spring’s collection is all about the wow factor.
