To commemorate Ferrari’s 70 years of automobile achievements, Swiss luxury horologer Hublot has created an extraordinary Techframe Tourbillon Chronograph edition – a piece that defies the codes of both motoring and watchmaking.
Having debuted at Baselworld in March, Hublot Techframe Ferrari 70 Years Tourbillon Chronograph is the first non-automobile item to materialize out of the design prowess of Ferrari’s in-house team Centro Stile, headed by Flavio Manzoni.
“The unique Hublot Techframe watch is the result of a team effort – this is a timepiece that combines our expertise in a process that started at Ferrari HQ in Maranello and ended with Hublot in Nyon,” said Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe in a press statement.
Just like a Ferrari vehicle, the chronograph flaunts a potent “engine”, a remarkable “chassis” and a sleek “engine cover.”
Heeding the creative processes for sports carmaking, Ferrari’s Italian designers have constructed a lightweight yet solid timepiece around the watchmaker’s Tourbillon Chronograph movement – the 253-component “engine” that propels the water-resistant watch and harbors 5-day worth of power reserve. The “engine cover” is a 45mm case that basks in King Gold, Hublot’s famed alloy of gold and ceramic.
Enhancing the watch’s unique character is the skeleton case middle, the “chassis” built of unidirectional PEEK carbon. Finishing the striking aesthetic, the memorable logos of Hublot and Ferrari grace the dial that reimagines the counters on Ferrari’s instrument panels.
The exclusive Hublot Techframe Ferrari 70 Years Tourbillon Chronograph will go under the hammer on Sept. 9, when the car manufacturer will mark its 70th anniversary with a special gala in Maranello, Italy. Open to all guests as well as online, the auction, organized by RM Sotheby’s, will also feature Ferrari-branded cars and accessories.
