Italian luxury fashion maison, Gucci is to launch an exclusive collection with Briton Helen Downie, who is better known by her nom de plume, Unskilled Worker.

The 40-piece capsule collection comprises ready-to-wear and accessories that intuitively combine the innovative sensitivities of Unskilled Worker and the label’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele, whose creative bond dates back to 2015, when Michele discovered the artist on Instagram.

Channeling Unskilled Worker’s expressive artwork of portraits and floral patterns as well as Michele’s eclectic Romanticism, the line has reimagined such signature items as GG Marmont shoulder bags, Ace sneakers and Princetown mules. It also includes printed dresses, silk skirts and blouses, denim jeans, patched knitted tops, sweatshirts and shawls among other wardrobe staples.

On Oct. 11, the collection will mark the first Gucci line to launch online across all the brand’s markets – in Europe, Canada, the US, UAE, China, Japan, Australia and South Korea. On the same date, an exclusive painting by Unskilled Worker, which she has composed solely for the event, is to become available for free downloading on Gucci.com and UnskilledWorker.co.uk.

To celebrate the debut, the Italian fashion house is to also exhibit Unskilled Worker’s designs in key locations in London, New York, Paris, Milan and Shanghai. Similar works of art will also grace the bespoke packaging of the items.
