Food and drink lovers rejoice! There are a lot of delicious activities in the Bay Area for you to partake in this weekend. Interested in learning more about rum? Head to the third annual California Rum Fest on Friday and Saturday, September 8 and 9. More than 40 premium rum brands from around the world will be gathering at this two-day event. There are several seminars, a grand tasting, and the opportunity to enjoy some of Martin Cate’s (of Smuggler’s Cove) private selection of rare and unique rums.

In Tahoe, it’s the 32nd annual Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival. There are all sorts of scrumptious events happening around the North Shore. Partake in a farm to table dinner at The Zephyr Lodge, learn how to mix cocktails at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, and shop the gourmet marketplace at The Village at Northstar. There’s also a progressive picnic, village wine and brew walk, kid’s cook-off, and a grand tasting.

At the J-Pop Summit at Fort Mason on Saturday and Sunday, September 9 and 10, indulge in delicious Japanese eats. The summit is an explosion of Japanese pop culture and features all sorts of interesting interactive exhibits. Take a trip to Japan with a virtual reality experience, watch a ramen speed-eating contest, participate in special sake tastings, and much more at the J-Pop Summit.

On Sunday, September 10, Marin French Cheese Company is throwing their annual summer picnic. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests are invited to enjoy live music, food, and drink. 25 food and beverage vendors are setting up shop about the creamery’s gorgeous property and will be selling everything from yogurt to olive oil. Some of the participants include Three Twins Ice Cream, Angelo’s Smokehouse, Lala’s Jams, and The Fig Rig Food Truck. Of course, there will also be tons of cheese! Marin French Cheese, Laura Chenel’s, Nicasio Valley Cheese, and many more from the California Artisan Cheese Guild will be at the picnic, so you can shop and eat until your heart’s content.

Also on Sunday, September 10, Thistle Meats, Petaluma’s artisanal butchery boutique, is throwing a Sunday Supper. Chefs Christie Peters and Kyle Michael of The Hollows and Primal in Saskatoon, Canada will be joining Thistle’s Travis Day to cook a four-course family-style meal. Hopscotch Oakland’s bar team is shaking cocktails and beer and wine will be available to purchase.
